Marjie Harbrecht is a family physician and served as the Chief Executive Officer of HealthTeamWorks (formerly the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative [CCGC]) since 1999…and organization that implements and evaluates evidence-based care through redesign and culture change at the practice, community and healthcare system level.
Under Dr. Harbrecht’s leadership, HealthTeamWorks has served as the lead agency for two major national initiatives: Improving Performance in Practice (IPIP) and the Colorado Multi-Payer, Multi-State Patient-Centered Medical Home Pilot, and is currently providing practice transformation services along with Rocky Mountain Health Plans for the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) Initiative in Colorado. HealthTeamWorks is also a partner in the Colorado Regional Extension Center (REC) to help practices achieve “meaningful use” of electronic medical records.
Dr. Harbrecht has served on multiple boards and committees both at the local and national levels; which include the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, the Center for Improving Value in Healthcare, the All Payer Claims Database Committee, the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative Payment Reform Taskforce and the NCQA PPC-PCMH Advisory Committee that helped develop the newly revised 2011 PCMH standards.
Dr. Harbrecht lectures nationally about health systems change, quality improvement and patient safety and serves as an assistant clinical professor in family medicine at the University of Colorado.
After serving the organization for 18 years, Dr. Harbrecht is stepping down as CEO and taking a sabbatical for the next several months. She continues to assist the organization part-time as Chief Medical and Innovations Officer to ensure a smooth transition for the new CEO.
